SEN/D Groups

Making music accessible for everyone

Customised to fit a variety of needs, with space for up to 8 participants with SEN/D at a time, these sensory sessions are carefully designed, specifically to meet the needs of those with additional needs.

I am a qualified teacher at a special needs school in BANES. I have been a SEN/D teacher for 7 years.
I have worked with pupils that have Education, Health and Care Plans (EHCP) across year groups, from primary up to post-16, ages 4-19.

SEN/D Experience:

Having worked with those with an SEN/D diagnosis since 2014, I know that music has great therapeutic value, and is able to calm or stimulate those with limited awareness.

Music offers a way of communicating with others where words are not needed.

Music is my passion and I am very excited to share a unique, therapeutic approach to music making without the need for referral.

What will the workshops look like?

Through carefully planned sessions we will use music as a tool, enabling us to explore a wide spectrum of experiences. â€‹

Using: visual prompts, images & PECs symbols, Makaton signing, simple colour coded notation and musical cues, we will engage in a musical journey, using 4 of the senses to expand your experiences.

Serenity Sensory Music workshops can evolve around an individual or group to best support their needs. â€‹

Music supports the development of communication skills, social skills and emotional understanding. Music boosts confidence, develops a better sense of identity and enriches our daily lives.

Explore 4 senses:

Sound

With music at the centre of these relaxing sensory sessions, we can explore what we can hear.

Sight

Aided by gentle coloured lighting, photographs, video clips and imagery, we will explore what we can see.

Smell

Using calming smells: lavender, chamomile, rose, rosemary, peppermint, eucalyptus, frankincense and tangerine, we will explore what we can smell.

Touch

Assisted by a beautiful collection of tactile instruments, materials, bubbles and other sensory items, to explore what we can feel.
