  • Lower heart rate and blood pressure

  • Relax muscle tension

  • Release endorphins

Emotional Wellbeing & Mental Health
6 Week Intervention

£100 per pupil (£20 educational discount when booked as a block of 6 sessions)

Working in a 1:1 setting, these therapeutic, sensory music interventions are spread across 6 weeks to allow the pupil to develop a trusting bond, and work through their emotions in a fun, relaxing, safe space.

Sensory music making can be an active process, where clients play a role in creating music, or a passive one that involves listening or responding to music. Some sessions may use a combined approach that involves both active and passive interactions with music.

Serenity Sensory Music interventions use a therapeutic approach to carefully identify areas of need, use the naturally mood-lifting properties of music to help people improve their mental health and overall well-being.

Sensory music is often used to help children and adolescents:

  • Develop their identities

  • Improve their communication skills

  • Learn to regulate their emotions

  • Recover from trauma

  • Self-reflect

In each session I emphasise self-exploration and continue to promote the wellbeing of all who attend.

SEN/D & Additional Needs
6 Week Intervention

£100 per pupil (£20 educational discount when booked as a block of 6 sessions)

Making music accessible for everyone, Serenity Sensory Music sessions are customised to fit a variety of needs. These multi-sensory interventions are carefully designed across 6 weeks, specifically to meet the needs of those with identified additional needs.

I am a qualified teacher and have worked as a teacher in a special needs school since 2014. I have worked with pupils that have Education, Health and Care Plans (EHCP) across all year groups, ages 4<19. â€‹
Serenity Sensory Music sessions engage pupils in a musical journey, using the senses to expand their experiences, using: â€‹â€‹

  • visual prompts,

  • images & PECs symbols,

  • Makaton signing,

  • simple colour coded notation

  • and musical cues.

Having worked with those with an SEN/D diagnosis, I know that music has great therapeutic value, and is able to calm or stimulate those with limited awareness. Music offers a way of communicating with others where words are not needed.

Trying new experiences can be daunting, please contact me if you have any further questions, and we can discuss what will work best for your educational setting.

Music supports the development of communication skills, social skills and emotional understanding. Music boosts confidence, develops a better sense of identity and enriches our daily lives.

Themes

Have a look at the themes below.

Lots of these themes link in with topics covered in Humanities, Science, PSHE and RE.

In each session we will embark on an enjoyable multi-sensory journey, focussing on a different theme.

Each theme supports relaxation, and helps the participants to develop a better understanding of their world.

If you have a different theme in mind - let me know and I can arrange something more bespoke.

What do the workshops look like?

Through carefully planned sessions we will use music as a tool, enabling us to explore a wide spectrum of experiences. â€‹

Using:

  • visual prompts,

  • images & PECs symbols,

  • Makaton signing,

  • simple colour coded notation

  • and musical cues,

I will engage you in a musical journey, using 4 of the senses to expand your experiences.

Serenity Sensory Music workshops evolve around an individual or group to best support their needs. â€‹

Explore 4 senses:

Sound

With music at the centre of these relaxing sensory sessions, we can explore what we can hear.

Sight

Aided by gentle coloured lighting, photographs, video clips and imagery, we will explore what we can see.

Smell

Using calming smells: lavender, chamomile, rose, rosemary, peppermint, eucalyptus, frankincense and tangerine, we will explore what we can smell.

Touch

Assisted by a beautiful collection of tactile instruments, materials, bubbles and other sensory items, to explore what we can feel.
